Since my first day of school in the University of Houston QUEST program, I have been learning about the Professional Attributes. I believe the professors review them at the beginning of every class because they define qualities that are necessary and essential in the teaching profession. Reflecting on these qualities allows me to become aware of the attributes that I need to develop so I can begin to improve my future career.
Organization is something I have struggled with since I was young. My mom would want my room clean, so I would try to get it done the quick way by stashing and hiding clutter in various places. When it comes to schoolwork, I try very hard at keeping everything organized. When I fall behind, however, it is very easy for me to resort back to stashing and hiding clutter. Then it becomes hard to become organized again. Therefore, one of my goals for this semester is to spend more time organizing my life and schoolwork. In order to get the most out of QUEST 2, another goal will be to complete every assignment on time and to the best of my ability. With support and assistance from my friends and family, I believe I will be able to succeed.
“Hearing” you describe how you responded to your mom’s room cleaning request and how your habit made it harder and harder to get organized again, I am thinking, you are so honest! Not many people would admit that “stashing and hiding clutter” is one of their organizational strategies. What I can do for you is that I will particularly monitor your assignment submission performance. Not that I enjoy taking points off when you are late for assignments but I hope to encourage you to start forming a good habit (while “somebody is “watching” ^_^). Good luck!
